Let me introduce myself.
My name is Daniel (Dan) Macy. he/him
I have been working and living in Colorado since 1993, and am currently living and working in Louisville, Colorado. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I lived in Concord, Walnut Creek, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and Menlo Park. I am a first-generation college student who attended Diablo Valley, De Anza, and Foothill College (all Community Colleges). Then, I transferred and completed my bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Psychology from San Jose State University. I then completed my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of San Francisco while working full-time and assisting in raising our two young daughters at the time with my wife, who was also working as a therapist.
My work experience is varied, with two long stints at two community colleges: Foothill in California and Red Rocks in Colorado. I have also offered career coaching and educational planning as a self-employed practitioner since moving to Colorado with my family in 1993.
I currently provide career counseling and educational consulting to individuals going through career transitions, work with youth finding themselves to elders wanting to re-invent themselves and contribute to their community and world through their work.
I assist those I work with in finding meaning, purpose, and satisfaction in their work, including integrating spirituality into their career choices. As well, I apply intuition in my work with clients and encourage them to use their own. I offer guidance as a career intuitive and teach my clients how to tune into their higher self, guides, and angels.
Some of the tools I work with and include in my work with clients include the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI Master Practitioner), YouScience aptitude test, and VIA Character Strengths assessment. I also integrate peak experiences, active engagement, a hope-based approach, and Planned Happenstance.
I can also utilize and apply guided imagery to our sessions together. This can be used to address and include job search skills, developing career success, self-confidence, finding your calling, and successful interviewing in our work together.
I am available to conduct training and give presentations.
On a personal note, I have been married to my partner and spouse, Sharla Macy, long enough and blessed enough to have two wonderful daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Sharla, a licensed therapist, and I work collaboratively at times. Visit Sharla’s website at www.sharlamacylmft.com. Meet my service dog and CMO, Chief Morale Officer, Ranger, who may occasionally join us during walking sessions.
