About Dan

Let me introduce myself.

My name is Daniel (Dan) Macy. he/his/him

I have been working and living in Colorado since 1993; and am currently living and working in Louisville, Colorado. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I lived in Concord, Walnut Creek, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Menlo Park. I am a first generation college student who attended Diablo Valley, De Anza and Foothill College (all Community Colleges). Then transferred and completed my bachelor degree in Environmental Studies with a minor in Psychology from San Jose State University. I then completed my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco while working full-time and assisting in raising our two young daughters at the time with my wife who was also working full-time as a therapist.

My work experience is varied with two long stints at two community colleges; Foothill in California and Red Rocks in Colorado. I have also offered career coaching and educational planning as a self-employed practitioner since moving to Colorado with my family in 1993.

I currently provide career counseling and educational consulting to individuals going through career transitions. Work with youth finding themselves to elders wanting to re-invent themselves and contribute to their community and world through their work.

I assist those I work with find meaning, purpose and satisfaction in their work; including integrating spirituality into their career choices. As well I apply intuition in my work with clients and encourage them to use their own.

Some of the tools I work with and include in my work with clients include the the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI Master Practitioner) and Strong Interest Inventory (Certified) and the YouScience aptitude test. I also include a narrative personal story approach, as well as include multiple exercises and activities including peak experiences, active engagement, hope based approach, Planned Happenstance and personal strengths.

I am also a certified hypnotists and can add hypnosis sessions into our work together if you, the client are open this this approach. We can address developing career success, self confidence, finding your calling and successful interviewing.

I am available to conduct training and give presentations.

On a personal note I have been married to my partner and wife Sharla Macy long enough and blessed enough to have two wonderful daughters and 3 beautiful grandchildren.
